How to Grow your X/Twitter Account
Building a following on Twitter in 2025 can be highly lucrative. On average, for example, a crypto account on Twitter with 30,000 followers makes around 3,000 to 7,000 dollars per post. While some niches, such as entertainment, may not be as lucrative, if you want to sell something or enter any business-related niche, from stocks to SaaS companies, X will be a good platform for generating potential leads.

I’ve found a few business partners on Twitter myself, so it’s great for networking and finding out about new things first.
This article is your ultimate guide to building your X account. We’ll cover building a standout profile, mastering tools like X Pro, strategic replies, and plans for your first 12 months and beyond. This isn’t about overnight fame – it’s about building a foundation that compounds over time. Whether you’re in crypto, tech, or another niche, these strategies work if you put in the effort.
To succeed in building one account, you need:
- X Premium: It will 10x to 100x your building process.
- Resilience: The early learning and building phase is tough, like mastering a new school subject, learning to code, or navigating your first relationship. It’s never easy, but it gets better with time.
- Mastery: Grind until content creation feels as natural as speaking your native language.
This guide centers on Crypto, but it applies to other niches as well – you can either disregard the crypto terminology or adapt it to your own niche.
Tip 1: Build a Winning Profile and Roadmap for Early X Success
Why Your Profile Matters Your bio, profile picture (PFP), and cover photo are your first impression on X. People have short attention span – They will decide if you are worth following in under 10 seconds – A sloppy profile repels followers; a polished one invites them and builds trust. Pair that with a clear strategy, and you’ve got a blueprint for growth.
How to Optimize Your Profile and grow quickly.
- Clear Bio: Sum up your niche in one sentence. Example: “Sharing airdrop alpha and DeFi insights.” – Make it clear why you’re worth following.
- Consistent PFP: Choose a recognizable PFP (If you can afford to buy one) or just a Clean Profile Picture and stick with it. My PFP hasn’t changed in months, so people can spot me in timeline instantly.
- Clean Cover Photo: Use a high-quality image reflecting your niche or personality – It can be something fun, educational, green etc.
- Pinned Post: Spend sometimes to write a very quality helpful threads or article : Pin that up on your profile, It will be one of the first few things people decide whether if they would want to follow you.
- Join a Community: I used follow-for-follow (F4F) in a NFT community to grow from 200 to 800 followers in a month.
- Connect with Creators: DM creators with similar follower counts to build relationships and cross-promote. Offer value, like sharing their post or a tip.
Your starting early 10-Step Roadmap:
- Get X Premium
- Create a profile with a clear bio, clean PFP and cover photo.
- Join a niche community.
- Be active with F4F to grow followers.
- Write content daily.
- Reply 50-100 quality replies a day on relevant posts for visibility.
- Build connections by DMing similar-sized creators.
- Use tools like X Pro to stay organized (more below).
- Stay consistent, even when engagement is low.
- Perseverance through the grind.
xample in Action
My early bio was vague and messy. Switching up my bio with a tight knit NFT community PFP boosted my follower growth in weeks. Joining the community, doing F4F, and DMing creators with 500-1000 followers for tips laid the foundation for my first 1000 followers.
Why It Works
A sharp profile signals credibility, encouraging follows and engagement. The 10-step roadmap combines strategy, engagement, and persistence to set you ahead of most newbies. Don’t be afraid to F4F or to DM creators to connect. Similar to sales, if you don’t actively promote your product and engage with others, you can’t expect support and people to come to you everyday. It just doesn’t work that way.
Tip 2: Master X Pro for a Smarter Workflow
Why It Matters X Pro (formerly TweetDeck) is your command center for X’s chaos. Exclusive only to X Premium Blue Tick users, it lets you monitor multiple timelines on one screen, saving time and boosting efficiency.
How to Set It Up
- Subscribe to X Premium to unlock X Pro. (The cheaper Premium will do)
- Go to “Premium” > “X Pro” in the X menu.
- Build a custom deck with columns for key timelines.
- Click “Lists” , Search and play around with keywords like “Kaito top KOLs” I like the list “Interact with Threads” by DeRonin_ for example
My X Pro Setup – Here’s my deck:
- Top Creators List: Curated KOLs/Influencers for reply opportunities and inspiration.
- Niche Community List: DeFi farmings, airdrop hunters or founders.
- Content Inspiration List: Writers in motivation or tech to spark ideas.
- Top creators who reply: Keep replying to big creators, those who reply back – put them into your personal curated list.
- Notifications: Track replies, likes, and mentions instantly.
- Home: Track new content (Change the setting to filter only fresh new post, no replies or no quotes) – List > Home > Setting > Search > Likes, Replies & Reposts > Tick only “Show original posts”
Pro Tip Your deck should evolve. I used a “Yappers List” for replies early on but swapped it for a DeFi project list as my focus shifted.
Keep adding new creators into your own curated list. Don’t stay stagnant as replying is your bread and butter be it whether you are at 100 or 10000 followers count. Experiment and tweak often. Others people list might work for others but not you since all of us reply differently so remember to create your own personal list based on your own taste.
Remember to implement the Home setting – It changed up my entire game for replying since I now see and only reply to freshly baked post instead of seeing a bunch of retweets, replies etc.
What I wrote above is based on Crypto and Airdrops niche, though you can do it all the same for any niche, if you can’t find any lists that are good already, make your own. For example let’s make a list for for Saas niche:
First let’s go to X Premium and open X Pro:

Go to ‘Add Column’ and select ‘Lists’. There, you will be able to choose the list you created or another list that you found and liked.

For example, Levelsio is one of the bigger names in the SaaS Twitter community and has a good list called ‘Makers Building in Public’.
Tip 3: Be a Strategic Reply Guy to Level up
The Power of Replies
Being a “reply guy” isn’t about spamming emojis – it’s a calculated move to earn Yaps(Here, I am talking about Kaito Yaps, a crypto project that rewards users with tokens for interacting with posts related to specific projects on their platform. People have earned 3-6 figures with this platform over the last two years. If you’re looking to grow an account for a different niche, don’t worry about Kaito and Yaps’ terminology.), boost visibility, and forge connections. Strategic replies can skyrocket your growth. Reflecting on my own journey, I once hit a month-long Yap drought despite high-impression threads, but a single reply from a founder with 10%+ Smart Followers broke it with a +5 Yap gain. It’s all about quality engagement.
How to Nail It
- Target Fresh Posts: Reply within 1-5 minutes of a post going live. Creators are most active then, increasing your odds of a response. For example, I replied to a Inner Circle post with a screenshot and question within 2 minutes. The account replied in under a minute, sparking a thread that earned 5 Yaps and 30 followers.
- Research Targets: Use Kaito Leaderboard to find Inner Circle or Emerging Yappers with high Smart Follower counts who engage with their audience. Add them to a list, enable notifications, and jump in. I also follow every project I’m interested in, and turn on notifications to engage early with their posts.
- Find and Use Lists: Search for lists created by top creators or communities in your niche (e.g., “Big Accounts That Reply” or “Web3 Builders”). Reply to these creators’ posts with thoughtful insights. I follow top creators from various projects, add them to a private list, and engage whenever I’m online and see their posts (This is mentioned above)
- Build a “Those Who Reply to Me” List: Create a private list called “those who reply to me” and add anyone who interacts with your content, even occasionally. Every day, aim to grow this list by engaging with new accounts. Support these creators by liking, replying, or sharing their posts to stay visible and build reciprocal relationships.
- Search Project Keywords: Use X’s search to find top content by searching project (e.g., “Billions”). Engage with posts from the past 4 hours, ideally under 1 hours, to ride their momentum. I’ve gained 2-3 Yaps by replying to fresh, high-engagement posts this way.
- Craft Quality Replies: Ask, “Would I respond to this?” Avoid generic replies like gm, hehe, hello, very nice. Share insights, ask smart questions, or drop a meme.
What to Avoid
- Don’t ever beg for engagement (hey f4f pls, pls) or over-tag accounts (tagging 50 accounts in an AI slop content) – it looks desperate and I promise you that everyone dislike that. Most accounts would mute you instead. Authenticity scales. Desperation doesn’t.
- Skip low-effort replies; they hurt credibility. If you can’t find any ideas to reply, then don’t – move on to the next posts.
- Never ever use AI. It’s fine to tidy up your grammar or to get some ideas but don’t use it for the entire thing.
Why It Works
Strategic replies put your profile in front of influential accounts and their followers, building your reputation over time. A premium account helps you to put you on top of accounts who have no blue ticks. A good reply can give you an impression of 1000 while a post as a small account gives you only 100 impression. A reply takes probably under 1 minute to craft up while a post takes average 15mins to create. Do the math by multiplying it up by 100x and you see why a reply guy strategy work so well. Focus on 10-20% posts, 80-90% replies.
Most of my smart followers, including those big accounts like influential creators and founders, were gained through thoughtful replies
FYI.
I received many follow-backs even when I had only a four figure follower count, so it’s not true that only large or prominent accounts attract follows.
Stay authentic, don’t force it, and reply only when you have something valuable to contribute. Never ever use AI or third party apps to craft your responses.
Tip 4: Consistency Is Your Superpower
The Grind Pays Off Creating, posting and replying daily, even when all flop, is the backbone of X growth. I’ve spent hours on threads that got 100 impression and zero likes. Consistency compounds – it’s how I went from 200 to 26000.
My Approach
- Schedule Ahead: I’m offline weekends and travel often, so I batch-create 20+ posts during the week.
- Mix Content Types: I blend threads, shitposts, educational, quick tips, personal stories, and humor to keep my audience engaged.
- Track Progress: Early posts averaged 100 impressions. Now, I hit 2K per post. Celebrate every tiny wins.
Benefits of Consistency
- Visibility: Daily posts boost your overall presence in your niche community on X
- Skill Growth: Writing daily sharpens your voice.
- Mindshare: Regular posting keeps you top-of-mind and level you up.
How to Stay Consistent
- Dedicate 60-120 minutes daily to writing and replying.
- Cut time-wasters (Netflix, TikTok) to prioritize X.
- Use X Pro to streamline your workflow.
- Set a timer for different tasks (30mins for replying, 15mins for researching etc)
Why It Works Consistency is key to excelling in all areas of life, whether you’re building your X account or pursuing any other goal. You don’t ace final-year exams, master a sport, cook skillfully, learn a new language, or communicate effectively by practicing for just a month or two. You become proficient in any skill by committing to it consistently over time, day in and day out. Stay in the game long term and be consistent.
Show up, even when it’s boring. That’s the shortcut.
Tip 5: 11 Tactical Tips for X Success
Here’s a battle-tested list to supercharge your X account:
- Avoid Links in Posts: The X algorithm downranks posts with external links. Insert link on the reply instead or space link out like www.X(.)com
- Reply to Fresh Posts: Target posts under 5 minutes old for maximum creator engagement.
- Jump on Viral Posts: Reply to posts with 5-6 figure views within an hour to ride their visibility. My reply to a viral crypto post gained 10K impressions. I have one with 200K impressions.
- Keep Writing Simple: Use clear words (e.g., “bad” instead of “catastrophic”). Not everyone’s a native English speaker.
- Mind Your Grammar: Headers should be short and punchy, but clean grammar in threads builds credibility.
- Craft Strong Hooks: Your first two sentences decide if someone keeps reading. Example: “Want to 10x your X growth? Here’s my secret sauce.”
- Use Unique Symbols: Stand out with symbols like ▫️ or ↳. Copycats have copied my entire thread but thought others or I wouldn’t find out but they copied the symbols along with the whole content…
- Be Authentic: Share your journey, mistakes, and wins. Admitting “I don’t know” builds trust instead of “I know everything”.
- Write Daily: Consistency is king. 1 post, 50 replies a day keeps you in the game.
- Avoid Cursing/Arguing: Try to always stay respectful.
- Short Paragraphs: Limit to 1-2 sentences per block. Avoid long text blocks.
Example:
gm
my name is filip
this is my guide to build your X account from 0 to 10000 I hope you like it, kthxbye
Tip 6: Perseverance Through the Grind
My Story In November 2024, I had 200 followers and posts averaging 100 views. Hours spent on creating threads got zero likes. It hurt, but I kept going. All big accounts all started with 0 followers. Perseverance turns dreams into reality.
Why Perseverance Matters
- It’s Messy: Early posts will flop. That’s normal.
- It’s Painful: Low engagement stings, but it’s temporary.
- It’s Rewarding: Every post, reply, and interaction levels you up.
How to Keep Going
- Set Small Goals: Aim for 50 replies and one post daily then higher.
- Learn from Failure: Analyze flops to improve.
- Celebrate Wins: Even 10 followers or one Yap is progress. Celebrate all the tiny little wins
- Study Top Creators: Check low-follower accounts ranking high on Kaito leaderboards or small accounts with a lot of yaps – you will be surprised to know that some accounts with 1000 followers have more than 500-1000 yaps, it’s even more than some 50K account.
Mindset Shift Perseverance builds resilience. I have been working full-time in Web3 for eight years. The early years were chaotic, but I navigated the volatility to gain extensive trading and DeFi experience before transitioning into content creation.
I have always been active on X/CT, though I was never focused on creating content. Instead, I quietly learned about crypto, which significantly helped me build my account.
This is why I reached 26000 followers in just eight months. My success wasn’t due to luck; it was the result of perseverance and experience. For eight years, I dedicated 10–16 hours daily to learning about Web3.
Perseverance : persistence in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success.
Tip 7: Mix Up Content Types
– Experiment with these formats to find your voice:
Deep Educational Content: Long-form threads teaching niche topics, like my 100K-impression thread on Stablecoin yield farming. Or create an article like this type (need Premium+ for Article. It’s expensive so I won’t recommend this until you can really make $ through X unless you have a huge pocket to begin with)
Shit Posts: Humorous, edgy takes to grab attention.
Step-by-Step Guides: Break down complex topics (e.g., “How to Farm Monad Testnet”).
Bull Posts: Optimistic takes on projects or markets to inspire. Day Series Posts: Start on a daily post for 2 or 3 weeks on a topic you’re passionate about.
FOMO Posts: Highlight urgency (e.g., “This project’s TGE is tomorrow – don’t miss it”).
Success Posts: Share wins, like airdrops wins, earning yaps, follows from big accounts to motivate. People like seeing wins and they like following winners. (This is one of my strongest format on my account)
Bait Posts: Provocative questions to spark debate (e.g., “Is NFT dead? BAYC going to Zero”). Motivational Posts: Example: Getting rich in web3 : 1% luck, 99% sticking to your damn goals. Don’t quit.
Engagement Posts: Simple posts like “GM, who’s still awake today?” to drive replies.
Deep Thoughts Posts: Give your personal opinion about anything, it can be regarding to any controversial events or just anything in general but always be respectful.
Personal Life Posts: Simply talk about yourself, your life – It can be a photo of your travel or in the gym etc. People like to feel more personal and connected with the account they are following, at least they know this is not an AI bot.
My Tips: Follow many big accounts, either put them into a list or scroll through the timeline from time to time – These creators have reached their success through expertise and years of experience in content creation.
Bookmark posts you find engaging and adapt their style in your own voice. Organize these bookmarks into folders by content type for easy reference, ensuring you save a variety of formats.
Don’t always bookmark the same content format but all the different types of formats.
Keep creating, keep trying – most of us don’t know how to write or create content until we do it consistently over time and that’s how we get better.
Don’t be afraid to try, don’t be afraid to click the “post” button, don’t be afraid to reuse material – there are still millions of audiences that you haven’t reached out to yet.
Keep in mind first few thousands of followers will be the hardest, this is the part where most people give up, good luck.
Building an X account a personal brand, is a marathon, not a sprint. After almost a year, I can tell you it’s exhausting, frustrating but absolutely rewarding. You might gain numerous advantages, including monetization opportunities (such as paid promotions and ambassador programs), access to whitelists, giveaways, special discord roles, increased engagement for easier ranking on info-fi leaderboards, referral benefits, and many more.
The more time you spent to grind – the easier it is to write and to create content – whether you’re building a personal brand or building wealth.
